Senior Structural Engineer (Orillia, Ontario)

Job Description

Sr. Structural Engineer is responsible to provide project management, analysis, assessments and calculations, mentorship and site reviews for our firm. Working closely with the management team, provide a high level of customer service to our clients while consistently providing solid structural details and analysis.

Specific Responsibilities would Include:

  • Perform assessments and structural feasibilities on building integrity, remedial approaches, and retrofits for structural solutions, prepare reports and designs based on findings/investigations
  • Conduct construction site reviews, ensure work is performed in accordance with original engineered specifications
  • Manage and monitor projects through phases
  • Prepare quotes and/or proposals for new project work
  • Mentor and assist in developing junior engineering staff

 

Education & Experience Required:

  • 10 years of relevant experience in structural design or construction environment including a variety of successfully managed projects
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario with a degree in Civil Engineering (Structural Major)
  • Strong Knowledge of Ontario Building Code, and the Occupational Health and Safety and the Construction Lien Acts for construction industry
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, by-laws and codes affecting residential development and commercial construction
  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering theories and principles
  • Able to communicate ideas and recommendations to non-engineer team members in a clear manner
  • Excellent time management and project management skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and structural analysis software (STADD, SAP 2000) are required and Revit Structure is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of the OCB, OHSA and Construction Lien Acts
  • High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning
  • Effective leadership skills required

 

Working Conditions:

  • Some travel may be required
  • Ability to attend and conduct presentations
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
  • Ability to physically implement designs
  • Overtime as required
  • May be exposed to construction sites
  • Weekend work may be required
