Senior Design and Drafting Technologist

Job Description

As Senior Design and Drafting Technologist, you are expected to plan, implement and lead design and drafting projects, determine resource requirements, staff allocation, project timelines and budgetary constraints. While overseeing workloads, you are to supervise department staff and ensure that all work is done accurately and efficiently. Demonstrating strong interpersonal skills is essential in order to allow all projects to be discussed and completed on time, on budget, while resolving any concerns that arise promptly and efficiently.  

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and interpret conventional and AutoCAD engineering designs, drawings and specifications for residential and commercial construction
  • Lead the technical team and exercise complex directives for detailed design/drawing criteria for all project types and disciplines
  • Provide lead expertise in tendering processes, construction management, budget control and design
  • Plan, organize and control the production of working drawings at all stages of construction to meet key target dates and maintain project schedule/deliverables
  • Establish and implement changes to increase efficiency, productivity, and overall profitability in the workplace 
  • Manages larger and complex projects by directing the project team to meet client goals, deadlines and ensure client satisfaction

 

Key Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree from a 2+ year Architectural or Civil Engineering Technology program
  • Minimum 7 years of full time architectural and/or engineering workplace experience or a combination of education/work relevant experience
  • Construction experience and professional accreditation (AATO or OACETT) 
  • Proficient in Autodesk, Revit, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office  
  • Advanced understanding of the Ontario Building Code 
  • BCIN certification (General Legal, House, Small Buildings, etc.)
  • Exceptional organization, time management, verbal and written communication skills
